Fly Me to the Moon

Posted on 31 January 2010, 0:01, by CWE, under Corporate & Markets, Science & Technology.

The Orlando Sentinel reports, “When the White House releases his budget proposal Monday, there will be no money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return humans to the moon by 2020.”

The New York Times reports, “President Obama will… turn to private companies to launch astronauts into space when he unveils his budget request to Congress next week.

The Wall Street Journal reports “[A] report released last week by the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel, an outside safety watchdog for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, cautioned that the private space companies rely on ‘unsubstantiated claims’ and need to overcome major technical hurdles before they can safely carry astronauts into orbit.”

Meanwhile, the International Business Times reports that the Indian Space Research Organisation [No... That is not a typo.] plans to launch a manned low-earth-orbit space mission in 2016, thereby joining space agencies in China, Russia, and the USA.

Invest accordingly.
